Heritage Hurrah!

by J’nascia Charles

On February 28th, there was an unforgettable celebration for Heritage Day, hosted by the Social Science Department. The event kicked off with a heartfelt prayer session led by Miss James, setting a serene tone for the day. This was followed by the beautiful and soulful performance of the Negro Anthem by Miss Humphreys, which truly touched the hearts of everyone in the room.

Our dynamic MCs, J’nascia Charles and Virlissa Benjamin, warmly welcomed the audience and seamlessly guided us through the exciting lineup of activities. The first performance was a vibrant dance by our talented third formers, grooving to the infectious rhythm of the song “Tum Bum”. The energy was electric, and even when the music experienced a few technical hiccups, the dancers remained unfazed, continuing their performance with true professionalism and an undeniable African spirit.

Of course, no PMS event would be complete without the incredible PMS Serenaders, who had everyone on their feet with a sensational performance of “Hurricane”. But the excitement didn’t stop there! The Music Department also treated us to a spectacular performance by none other than the legendary calypso artist, King Zakari, whose performance was nothing short of magical.

As the event drew to a close, J’nascia Charles, one of our incredible MCs, took the stage once more to express her gratitude to the audience and all the participants for making this Heritage Day so special. From beginning to end, the vibes were truly “immaculate”. It was a day filled with energy, culture, and pride—an event that will be remembered for years to come. Stay tuned for more exciting moments at PMS, the Home of Champions!

“They Not Like Us”

The Princess Margaret School aims to prove today, tomorrow and the day after that just why we are the “Home of Champions”. It’s that time again where school rivalries meet at the Interschool Track and Field Athletics Championships and secondary schools islandwide are sending their best to do battle. With bouts of challenge in sprinting, long distance, relay, shot put and javelin, there is much ado about something going down. However, the reigning champs from Princess Margaret School are once again the team to beat and our athletes are primed and ready to defend and retain their previous glory. Come out and support our cubs as they move like lions on and off the track March 7th, 8th and 9th, 2025 at YASCO. We have a mission to complete and in the words of Pulitzer prize winner, rapper extraordinaire Kendrick Lamar, “they not like us”.

The Tea: Sports Day Edition

Hey, hey, hey, cubs! Gather around because Sports Day was lit this year! First of all, can we talk about the fierce competition between the houses? I swear, it felt like the 100-meter dash was a race for gold… and pride. Roro and Geo from GREEN HOUSE?!? They were on fire, blowing everyone away with a time that had the crowd cheering like crazy. The way they crossed that finish line? Iconic. But hold up, don’t forget about Trevy, RED HOUSE’S star long jumper! He totally nailed the distance and, rumor has it, he’s been practicing on the down-low.

And, let’s just say, the relay teams weren’t all sunshine and rainbows. There were definitely some awkward baton passes. I’m not naming names but let’s just say… that handoff was a disaster. You could cut the tension with a knife!

But, the real drama? Team spirit, or the lack of it! All houses had their football squad on point, totally hyped up. However the support in the cheering section has dwindled. Honestly, I don’t know if they were there for sports or just there for the dress up.

So, there you have it, folks. The legends were made (green house) the blunders were seen (blue and yellow), and the gossip? It’s just beginning.

Stay tuned for more updates, because trust me, we haven’t even scratched the surface!

And Congratulations to our WINNERS:

THE DREAM TEAM FROM GREEN HOUSE
