The Tea: Sports Day Edition

Hey, hey, hey, cubs! Gather around because Sports Day was lit this year! First of all, can we talk about the fierce competition between the houses? I swear, it felt like the 100-meter dash was a race for gold… and pride. Roro and Geo from GREEN HOUSE?!? They were on fire, blowing everyone away with a time that had the crowd cheering like crazy. The way they crossed that finish line? Iconic. But hold up, don’t forget about Trevy, RED HOUSE’S star long jumper! He totally nailed the distance and, rumor has it, he’s been practicing on the down-low.

And, let’s just say, the relay teams weren’t all sunshine and rainbows. There were definitely some awkward baton passes. I’m not naming names but let’s just say… that handoff was a disaster. You could cut the tension with a knife!

But, the real drama? Team spirit, or the lack of it! All houses had their football squad on point, totally hyped up. However the support in the cheering section has dwindled. Honestly, I don’t know if they were there for sports or just there for the dress up.

So, there you have it, folks. The legends were made (green house) the blunders were seen (blue and yellow), and the gossip? It’s just beginning.

Stay tuned for more updates, because trust me, we haven’t even scratched the surface!

And Congratulations to our WINNERS:

THE DREAM TEAM FROM GREEN HOUSE

Past Students Give Back to PMS

On Monday, 6th January 2025, the Princess Margaret School received a charitable donation from its alumni. Four representatives from the Class of 2014, Jana Boston, Cheni Greene, Jahnika Francis and Casey Jean-Baptiste were on site to address their alma mater and brighten its New Year with a donation of XCD 3,000. The presentation took place during the school’s morning assembly. The donation comes to the school as a gift from the Class of 2014, who have long passed through the gates of Princess Margaret, yet it is evident she is still near in their thoughts and dear in their hearts.

The Princess Margaret School celebrates 70 years of educating the people of Antigua and Barbuda. If you are a past student and a member of this illustrious legacy who is interested in giving back to your school, contact the office at 460-9152.

Getting There

As Graduation Day approaches, it’s easy to begin wondering “what’s next?”, “where do I go from here?” or “….???”. It’s easy to feel lost in a sea of faces, not really sure of where you’re going, so used to where you’ve been. It’s never too early to start planning for the what’s next. What steps do you think will form the path of your journey?

What do you want to do? Every road begins here. Deciding the path to take can seem frustrating and confusing especially when there are so many options available. Maybe choosing one thing won’t be the best thing for you. And there’s no limit on what you can be. Is it the thing that brings you joy, that you do really well, that has always interested you? Or is it something that’s more of a challenge and requires effort but you think might be worthwhile?

How do you make it happen? While it’s good to dream, it’s better to put in the work. The dreams you pursue by working hard have a better chance of becoming real than the ones that stay in your head and fade when you’re awake. So write it down, plot it out, visualise it, read about it. If long term goals overwhelm you, you can start small to achieve big. Remember, one one full basket.

Who or what will help you? A support system can be essential on the path of life. Failing feels worse when faced with disappointing others even more so than disappointing ourselves. Knowing that you have people who are you rooting for your success adds to the feeling that your dreams can make sense. And sometimes you will walk the path alone and that’s okay too. Truth is, your options aren’t few. For the student today interested in achieving their goals, there are more opportunities for higher learning and certification than ever before. Make use of them.

Make your plans. You’re already in the process of creating your future with every step you take now carrying you closer. Be less afraid of the “what if it doesn’t work out?” Be more afraid of the “what if I don’t even try?” You can do it. You’ll get there.
